Baked Falafel

Ingredients :

  • Boiled chickpeas : 2 cups
  • Chopped onion :  1 piece
  • Garlic :  4 pods
  • Green chili :  2
  • Lemon juice : 1/2  teaspoon
  • Chopped parsley : 1/4 cup
  • Chopped coriander : 1/4 cup
  • Cumin seeds : 1 teaspoon
  • Coriander seeds : 1 teaspoon
  • Red chili powder : 1 teaspoon (optional)
  • Sesame seeds : 1 teaspoon (optional)
  • Flour : 2 teaspoons
  • Oil  for brushing : 1 & 1/2 teaspoons

Serves : 12 pieces

Preparation time : 5 to 8 minutes

Baking time : 20 minutes

Preparation

  • Blend coriander, sesame seeds, red chili powder coarsely and grind the mixture.
  • Add chickpeas, salt, chili powder, sesame seeds, red chili powder and lemon juice to the mixture.
  • Mix all ingredients properly, add flour in it and prepare soft dough mixture.
  • Refrigerate for half hour to allow the chickpeas to properly absorb the flavor.
  • Prepare 12 patties(any shape) from it and flatten it.
  • Pre-heat oven at 180 degree then arrange falafel on baking tray, and apply oil on it with brush.
  • Bake these falafel on 200 degree for 20 minutes until golden brown color.
  • Serve falafel with salad. You can also serve them with tahini sauce.
