Lotus Stem with Peanut Sauce

Ingredients :

  • Lotus stem thin slices : 2 cups or 200 grams
  • Corn flour : 2 & 1/2 table spoons
  • Rice flour : 2 tablespoons
  • Salt to taste
  • Ginger paste : 1 teaspoon
  • Red chili powder : 1/2  Teaspoon
  • Chat masala : 1/4 teaspoon
  • Oil for frying

Ingredients for Sauce :

  • Olive oil or Sesame oil : 1 table spoon
  • Chopped red spice chili : 1/2 teaspoon
  • Honey : 1/2 tablespoon
  • Peanut butter : 2 tablespoons
  • Soy sauce : 1/2 teaspoon
  • Roasted sesame seeds : 1 & 1/2 teaspoons
  • Pepper powder : 1/4 teaspoon
  • Chopped coriander leaves : 1/4 teaspoon

Serving : 2 to3

Preparation time : 10 minutes

Cooking time : 20 minutes

Preparation :

  • Wash lotus stem properly and cut it into 1/2 cm thin slices.
  • Mix corn flour, rice flour, ginger paste, chili powder, salt, chat masala and toss with lotus stem slices.
  • Keep it on the side for 10 to 15 minutes.
  • Heat oil in a pan and fry all slices until crispy/golden brown in color.
  • For the sauce heat oil in a pan, fry chili for few seconds, add peanut butter, honey, salt, pepper powder and soy sauce.
  • Add fried lotus stem and stir the mixture properly.
  • Remove from heat, garnish with sesame seeds and coriander leaves.
  • Serve with lemon ginger cooler drink.

Note : You can serve fried lotus stem with separate peanut butter sauce.
