Dosa Strip Starter (Pan Cake Starter)

Ingredients for dosa batter:
- Soaked rice —-1 cup
- Soaked urad dal—1/4 cup
- Salt to taste
- Ingredients for starter:
- Oil ——1 1/2 teaspoon
- Chana dal (split bengal gram) ——1 tablespoon
- Urad dal—1 teaspoon
- Curry leaves —-7 pieces
- Mustard seeds —-1/2 teaspoon
- Red dry whole chili (sabut chili)—–2 pieces
- Garlic paste —1 1/2 teaspoon
- Ginger paste—1 teaspoon
- Chopped capsicum —–2 tablespoon
- Chopped and deseeded tomatoes ——–2 tablespoon
- Chopped spring onion ——2 teaspoon
- Chopped onion —1 tablespoon
- Roasted peanuts —2 teaspoon
- Red chili sauce —–1 1/2 teaspoon
- Grated fresh coconuts —-1 teaspoon
- Tomato sauce —2 tablespoon
- Salt to taste
- Chopped fresh coriander leaves ——-2 tablespoon
- South indian sambhar masala —–1 teaspoon (optional)
Serves: 5 to 6
Preparation time: 10 min
Cooking time: 5 min
Recipe:
- Soak rice and dal in water for 3 hours and grind.
- Make smooth batter and keep it to ferment for 5 hours and make small thin dosas. Cut dosa in thin strips and keep aside.
- Heat oil in pan and add mustard seeds. When it crackle add dry red chili and chana dal.
- When dal becomes little brown add urad dal, saute few seconds then add onion and cook till transperent.
- Add garlic paste and ginger paste. Sauté little and add roasted pea nuts.
- Cook till peanuts are crispy. Add capsicums, chopped tomatoes, red chili sauce, tomato sauce , salt and spring onion.
- Stir properly, add dosa strips and coriander leaves and mix properly .
- Remove from heat and sprinkle sambhar masala. Garnish with fresh grated coconut and spring onion.
