Black Dal

Ingredients:

  • Masoor dal
  • 1 tsp Butter and oil
  • 2-3 Bay leaves
  • 1 whole red chilli
  • Asafoetida
  • 1/2 Chopped onions
  • Chopped ginger
  • Chopped Tomato or purée
  • Chilli powder
  • Kitchen king masala
  • Turmeric
  • Dhania powder
  • 1/4 tsp sugar
  • 2 tsp cream or curd
  • Add Kasuri methi

Recipe:

  • Wash the masoor well and cook it in the cooker.
  • Put 1 tsp butter and oil in a pan
  • Put the bay leaves, whole red chilli, asafoetida.
  • Add the chopped onions
  • When onions turn light brown, add chopped ginger and stir well
  • Add chopped tomato or purée and the cooked masoor
  • Add 1/2 cup water, chilli powder, kitchen king masala, turmeric and dhania powder
  • Boil for 5 minutes and add sugar and cream/curd
  • Switch off the gas and add Katsuri methi
