Apple Modak

Ingredients :

  • Apple: 1
  • Sugar: 4 tablespoons
  • Saffron strands: 4 to 5
  • Raisins; 1 teaspoon
  • Ghee(Clarified Butter) : 1 & 1/2 teaspoons
  • Poha( Flattened/Beaten rice): 1/4 cup
  • Semolina: 2 teaspoons
  • Milk: 1/2 cup
  • Milk powder: 1 & 1/2 teaspoons
  • Roughly crushed almond: 1 & 1/2 teaspoons

Cooking Time: 25 minutes

Preparation:

  • Take peeler and grate apple in a pan.
  • Add 2 teaspoon sugar ,saffron and raisins and heat till mixture thickens.
  • Take another pan and add 1 & 1/2 teaspoon ghee, when ghee is hot add poha and roast it for 5 minutes till pink.
  • Add semolina in it and roast till it becomes light. Add 1/2 cup milk and stir continuously, then add 2 teaspoon of sugar in it.
  • When mixture is little thick add apple mixture in it and stir properly.
  • When mixture thickens remove from heat and add almond powder and saffron.
  • Add milk powder after mixture completely cools.
  • Mix all properly and use modak moulds to give shape.
  • Serve in plate garnished with apple slices.

Note: One can use less ghee and without khoya so you can enjoy modak without worrying about getting fat.
