Moong Dal Appam

Ingredients:

  • 2 bowls of green/yellow moong dal
  • Ginger
  • Chilli
  • Garlic
  • Coriander
  • Jeera powder
  • Chat masala
  • (Optional) green peas or carrot
  • 1/2 tsp soda bi carbonate
  • Oil

Recipe:

  • Soak the green/yellow moong dal for an hour
  • Grind coarsely with ginger, chilli & garlic
  • Add coriander, jeera powder, chat masala
  • If you want, add green peas or carrot
  • Add soda bi carbonate
  • Mix thoroughly stirring in one direction
  • Oil the appam vessel and put the batter. Check after 10 minutes if the bottom has turned brown. If brown, then turn it so that upper side is at the bottom and put some oil. Cook for 5-10 minutes as required

Serve with chutney or/and Sambar.
